The first meeting of the Geneva Perl Mongers took place Wednesday, July 7^th, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. at Mulligan's Irish pub. There were two Mongers present! We hope there will be more.

The second meeting was held on Wednesday, August 25^th, 2004, in Café Bizarre. Nine mongers attended, which already represents quite an improvement ! We tried from then on to keep our meetings monthly but the pace slowed down quite a bit in the summer 2005.

We are now trying to give Geneva.pm a new start, with two changes:

Meetings will now take place on Thursdays rather than on Wednesdays, to adapt to our members' hectic schedules.
We wish that at least some of our meetings be technical events, and not just social gatherings, which implies that the venue (to be defined) should be more of a conference room than a restaurant.

Technical Meetings

A technical meeting is an occasion for a Monger to talk about a given subject, known in advance, before the rest of the group. The meeting takes place in a conference room equipped with an over-head projector, but we keep it casual: it is by no means a course or a training.

Everyone is welcome, it is not necessary to be a "member" to attend (being a member is something that has yet to be defined anyway).

"Social" Meetings

By "social" meeting we mean a meeting that is even less formal than a technical meeting, without an agenda or a given subject. Mongers simply gather in a restaurant and spend the evening together, just for fun.
